What is power? What is culture? Why does our public life seem so politicized? What is the church supposed to do in the face so much social turmoil? How is faith possible anymore?

These are tough questions that people are asking, both inside and outside of the American church. Answers are difficult to discern. The church, seated squarely within the complexities of our society, must take an important first step towards seeking greater self-awareness. That is, the church needs to be put in its place.
